Work Experience

CAD/Design Services Manager

(formerly ALSTOM Power/American Schack Company)
 

•Manager/ Design Lead for over 600 projects including individual heat exchangers, multiple installations and complete integrated systems. Liaison with customers and fabrication workshops to solve design and layout problems. Supervise Design Teams to meet schedule requirements. Ensure that designs meet or exceed customer and internal design specifications. Develop and enforce internal design standards. Develop and conduct technical training and mentoring for new and existing Designers.


•Perform Field/Shop inspection as required for over 250 projects. This has included repair supervision, site dimensional verification, installation supervision, Shop Quality Control and erection supervision. Travel to over 30 states/provinces in the United States and Canada and international travel to sites in Asia, Europe and South America.


•Developed relevant procedures for ISO 9000 certification. Train new users in ISO 9000 procedures.


•Implemented 2D CAD software (AutoCAD®) use within the Wexford site. Researched and evaluated hardware and software. Performed installation, developed initial standards and trained new users as the system was integrated into the Engineering Department. Developed backup program and file organization. Customized system to automate design tasks, developed revision and file control system and upgraded software and trained personnel as required.


•Implemented 3D CAD software (Autodesk® Inventor®) use within the Wexford site. This included the development of several automated base models for various ALSTOM Schack® heat exchanger configurations. Transitioned the Design Services group from 2D to 3D CAD use and developed and revised standards and procedures. Develop and conduct initial and ongoing training.


•Implemented personal computer use within the Wexford site. Established networking, servers, security, website and electronic messaging (email). Developed standards, trained users and performs maintenance and support.
